Multi Platform
Configuration Management
Multi-Platform
Configuration Management is achievable with a notebook and paper.
Would this be best practice? No not on your life. So what would you
need from a tool? I had a good look around at capabilities and have
settled on a few must haves.
IT Infrastructure is
not the backbone of the business anymore; it becomes integral part
of the business success. Heavy competition forces the companies to
perform better and deliver high quality service to the customer.
This is usually across
multiple platforms. But high quality service cannot be ensured with
legacy systems, each enterprise requires sophisticated systems that
deliver higher service with the least cost. At least not without
strong processes in place.
Multi-Platform
Configuration Management - Business Expectation
What the business
expectations are from IT:
- Identify the problem
areas and time consuming tasks.
- Reduce the down time
and increase the productivity.
- Set the standard
through out the organization.
- Automate the ICT
department and simplify the system administrator's tasks.
- Monitor and control
the cross-platform environment.
Multi-Platform
Configuration Management - Automate your ICT as much as
possible
Adopt a configuration
management tool, so the organization can distribute any operating
system from a central server. The down time of critical systems need
to be eliminated because enterprises have the ability to connect to
remote desktop, which is spread across the globe.
What I am referring to
is far more than monitoring the system performance to manage all
aspects of the desktop.
Multi-Platform
Configuration Management – Remote
Management
Take control of the
desktop that you are working with directly from the Central server.
Multi-Platform
Configuration Management – Data collection
Acquire thorough
information about the CI, hardware and software used in an
organization.
